Cats of Avenue B

Dee has always had an interest in nonprofit work. Because of their desire to be a positive influence on the world, Dee spent the first decade of their career working in community-based nonprofits.

"I believe that too many nonprofits are trying to influence people, rather than empower people to be the best version of themselves. That is why protecting an individual's autonomy is so important to me. I can't tell a person what the best version of themselves is. I just support them and nurture them - then they show me what the best version of themselves looks like."

Cats of Avenue B is a community-based organization that is dedicated to helping provide stray and abandoned cats with healthcare, and access to safe homes. This organization is still in its early stages, but it represents Dee's dedication to service and community, as well as Project Management skills.

"This group is really meeting a need in this community. And that is why we will see it grow and do really well. Once that need is no longer there, the group will have to change."
