When I worked at S.A.F.E. Place, I frequently gave public talks about sexual assault, domestic violence, and S.A.F.E. Place services and needs. I used the talks to raise awareness, as well as recruit volunteers and engage donors.

Along with coordinating the three-day volunteer and staff training at S.A.F.E. Place, I trained on several sections including Trauma-Informed Advocacy, Civil Rights, and Cultural Awareness. I enjoyed public speaking so much that I pursued a position as a trainer and facilitator at Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCEDSV)

At MCEDSV, I was the lead trainer for our New Service Provider Trainings which was a 40 hour training for new advocates in the state of Michigan. This training was created by the Coalition, but was owned by the Department of Victim Services (DVS) in the State of Michigan. DVS mandated that this training was required education for all sexual assault and domestic violence advocates.

I also led the move to implementing this training online, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and developed the Learning Management System that accompanied the virtual training. I developed best practices and internal policy and procedure around facilitating in virtual trainings. These policies focused on accessibility and principals of adult learning.

I also produced multiple one-day trainings for advocates on topics of interest such as: Support Groups Best Practices, Advocacy 2.0, Supporting Survivors Who Use Substances, and many more. Internally, I produced many trainings and workshops among staff, with the goal of supporting our mission of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
